What Is The Recruitment Process?

1. Applying Online

2. Assessment
After submitting the application, candidates will be invited to attend an assessment. This step evaluates the applicant’s skills and suitability for the program.
3. First Interview

4. Final Interview

Shift Work Requirements
Is Shift Work Required?
For the first 12 months at the training centre, shift work is not required. However, after this initial period, apprentices will be expected to participate in shift work as part of their training and work experience alongside experienced machine operators.
Duration of the Apprenticeship
How Long Is the Apprenticeship?
The apprenticeship program at the Goodwin Engineering Training Centre lasts for four years. This period includes both training and practical work experience, providing a comprehensive learning journey.
Study Process
How is the course split?
3 days in the classroom and 2 days in the workshop, for the first 12 months, until you go onto site.
Is there homework?
Yes. Homework shall be given at times to complement your learning.
Do you go to college?
No. The apprenticeship is completed at our own high-tech engineering training centre based in stoke on Trent, which is rated as a ‘Good Provider’ by Ofsted. Goodwin has complex facilities meaning all training is completed within the group due to the experience of it’s employees and outstanding training machines.
Qualifications Delivered
What Qualification Is Delivered?
Apprentices will achieve a Level 2 qualification for the workshop and Level 3 qualifications in engineering for knowledge from the classroom and also a level 3 depending on your chosen placement area. These qualifications are nationally recognized and provide a solid foundation for a career in engineering within the Goodwin Group, and are attained over the duration of the apprenticeship.

Do I get a job at the end of the apprenticeship? Yes, the apprentice is offered a job in full-time employment from the day they start however, the ultimate job role an apprentice gains from the apprenticeship within the company depends on the hard work and effort they demonstrate whilst learning the foundational skills and knowledge to begin their career. In many of the Goodwin companies, the Directors are on the boards they started life as a Goodwin apprentice in.
